BC’s Herzlich Off the Market

The NFL is allowing teams to sign undrafted rookie free agents tonight, and Boston College’s Mark Herzlich if off the market, according to FanSided’s NFL Spin Zone. Herzlich was signed by the Baltimore Ravens and will be learning the linebacker craft from Ray Lewis and Co. Herzlich’s inspirational story of battling cancer, recovering and returning to the football field made him a sentimental favorite among NFL fans across the nation. Boston sports fans had a spot in the hearts for Herzlich and were hoping the Patriots would sign the hometown hero, including this writer. Alas, that ship has sailed.

I do wish Mark Herzlich all the best as he begins his NFL career. Nobody in the league deserves happiness more than Herzlich.

**UPDATE** Mark Herzlich has NOT made a decision as to where he will sign. Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston retweeted the following from Herzlich:

@MarkHerzlich: I haven’t signed with anyone yet & am still making my decision. Thank you for support; I will give official word tomorrow
