The New England Patriots’ first-round draft pick, Defensive Rookie of the Year vote-getter, Pro-Bowl cornerback Devin McCourty will be conducting a Q&A session at the Hall at Patriot Place as part of their Speaker Series. McCourty will be available for autographs in addition to a Q&A period. The event will be held Tuesday, Feb. 15, at 6:30 pm (doors open at 5:30 pm) and tickets are $25 each, which includes admission into the Hall at Patriot Place. Mike Reiss from ESPN Boston posted an interesting piece asking one of the Rookie of the Year voters why he voted for McCourty. McCourty received 2 out of a possible 50 votes, the rest going to winner Ndamukong Suh. Here’s a short snippet from John Czarnecki on why he voted for McCourty:
“He looks like a cover cornerback and he was exceptional in the second half of the season. Yes, teams tested him, but he fought back and made a lot of plays in my assessment. I saw enough games from Suh where he relaxed and took a lot of plays off. I didn’t see that from McCourty.”
