In my latest article for NFL.com’s Blog Blitz, I discuss how the Jets got off their tried and true running game against the Patriots Week 13 and against the Colts during the first half of their playoff match, but will not make that mistake Sunday against the Pats. The second half of that game was a completely different story and it propelled the Jets to victory. I fully expect the Jets to try and establish their ground game early and if the score doesn’t get out of hand, will continue with that strategy throughout the game. Here is an excerpt from the article:
The Jets opened the Week 13 game very un-Jet like. The Jets’ first offensive series saw Mark Sanchez run a no-huddle offense from the shotgun. They passed the ball 9 out of 10 plays, the drive stalled, and ended in a 53-yard field goal miss. The Jets got away from their identity and strength: the running game. The pass-heavy game plan to open the game took little time off the clock and allowed Tom Brady more time on the field to score points.
