As we get closer and closer to the playoffs, different scenarios start to arise for teams jockeying for a chance to play in the post-season. The Patriots have already clinched a playoff berth after defeating the Chicago Bears last Sunday. Now, they are jockeying with the Pittsburgh Steelers for home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. The two teams that have the largest impact on the Patriots’ standing in the playoffs, the Jets and the Steelers, are playing each other this weekend. The Jets still have a chance at winning the AFC East while the Steelers are the closest to snatching home-field advantage away from the Pats. So the question is: Who do Patriots fans root for this weekend?
The first scenario is simple. If the Jets lose this weekend and the Patriots win, the Pats win the AFC East and are guaranteed a home game in the playoffs. However, if the Jets win and the Patriots win, the Pats will clinch home-field throughout the playoffs, providing the Pats go on to win the AFC East. In this scenario, the Pats could do that by beating Buffalo next week.
So which is better? Clinching the division now or being one game away from clinching home-field advantage? Can a Pats fan really root for the Jets? Vote in the poll below!
