There has been a little bit of a panic in New England today as the potential 2012 Nike uniform designs were allegedly leaked on the internet this morning. Nike is taking over the NFL contract in the 2012 season and as one might think, they are probably working on the uniform designs. The uniforms are, well, ugly. That might be a bit on the nice side. I think the best we can say about these uniform designs is that they are very Patriotic. Thankfully, it appears they are fake. When I first saw them, I assumed they were fake because I wouldn’t think that Nike would botch the photo editing as badly as this artist did. (Notice the right arm). Nike has apparently confirmed that they are, indeed, fakes. This is very good news because I would never buy one of those jerseys. If you want to see the rest of the fake uniform designs you can go here.
I find some of the designs to be pretty decent designs but the Patriots’ jersey is just pathetic, including the backwards Patriot emblem on the helmet. It does appear that Nike will probably alter the jersey in some way, but I can’t imagine that the change would be quite that drastic. It would not surprise me if Nike leaked these images to see what the public reaction would be and is now backing away from the designs because of the public backlash. It seems like an awful lot of work was put into making all 32 NFL team designs and I can’t really imagine a person would just spend their free time making those designs up for all of the teams
