New Uniforms for the Patriots in 2012

There has been a little bit of a panic in New England today as the potential 2012 Nike uniform designs were allegedly leaked on the internet this morning. Nike is taking over the NFL contract in the 2012 season and as one might think, they are probably working on the uniform designs.  The uniforms are, well, ugly. That might be a bit on the nice side. I think the best we can say about these uniform designs is that they are very Patriotic. Thankfully, it appears they are fake. When I first saw them, I assumed they were fake because I wouldn’t think that Nike would botch the photo editing as badly as this artist did. (Notice the right arm). Nike has apparently confirmed that they are, indeed, fakes. This is very good news because I would never buy one of those jerseys. If you want to see the rest of the fake uniform designs you can go here.

I find some of the designs to be pretty decent designs but the Patriots’ jersey is just pathetic, including the backwards Patriot emblem on the helmet. It does appear that Nike will probably alter the jersey in some way, but I can’t imagine that the change would be quite that drastic. It would not surprise me if Nike leaked these images to see what the public reaction would be and is now backing away from the designs because of the public backlash. It seems like an awful lot of work was put into making all 32 NFL team designs and I can’t really imagine a person would just spend their free time making those designs up for all of the teams

Do you like the Patriots fake jersey design?

Like you said, Kyle…Nike did confirm that they were fakes. The “player” looked the same in all of the jersey looks, and although well done, it can’t be taken seriously at this stage. Maybe it was a disgruntled graphic-designer/3D-Modeler…? Do we know who created this or who might have “leaked” this, or is it just a good hoax? I heard about it BEFORE I saw them so I “knew” that they were already fakes, but it’s interesting at least…

It could very well be a disgruntled former employee. My bet is that we’ll never find out who actually leaked them. Some of the designs were ok, but it just feels very Arena Football League to me. I don’t think the changes will be that drastic coming from Nike who is known for rather plain designs.

plain? have you seen oregon?? nike designed asu’s uniforms for next year as well, take a look at those, plus they had the nike combat uniforms for like ten or so teams last year, and most of em were crazy, like va tech’s all black…nike is now known mostly for crazy schemes and big changes, and when there is only small tweaks they are known for subtle yet noticeable changes
