Safety James Sanders has been awarded AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance in last Sunday’s 39-26 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is the first time that Sanders has won such an award in his career. Sanders had only four tackles in the game but had a 32-yard interception returned for a touchdown that sealed the win for the Pats in the fourth quarter. Ironically, while Sanders was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week in the NFL, here on Musket Fire, Sanders does not have a single vote at the time this was written in the Player of the Week voting. Tom Brady currently leads the way with 60% of the votes. Voting in that poll ends on Saturday.
