It looks like the Patriots will get a boost to their secondary for the Sunday night matchup with the Steelers. Free Safety Patrick Chung will likely be on the field for the first time since he was injured in the second quarter of the game against the Chargers. He was second on the team in tackles when he was injured, with 48, and his contributions on special teams can not be forgotten. In the game against Miami Chung blocked, a field goal, blocked a punt and returned an interception for a touchdown. His ability to make open field tackles makes him a very valuable asset to the Patriots’ 3-4 defense and their sub packages. The Patriots will need him on the field to help tackle Hines Ward and Rashard Mendenhall, who are both very good at breaking tackles. Chung was well on his way to a Pro Bowl season before the injury and if he can come back and make the major contributions that he was before the injury, it will be a major boost to the Patriots’ defense.
It is also worth noting that Brady was back on the Practice field today. Apparently his foot injury is not very serious, though we can never know for sure with the Patriots.
