Brett Favre Prediction

I’ve had a thought in the back of my mind for a couple of days in regards to whether Brett Favre will play Sunday against the Patriots or not. I mentioned it kind of in passing in my last post, but I want to expand upon it somewhat now. For those of you who may not know, Favre has two fractures in his heel and ankle and has been wearing a protective boot all week, and not practicing. Favre mentioned in a conference call with reporters today that he will “give it a try” Sunday and try to suit up against the Pats. To justify this statement, he mentioned playing hurt in the past, such as when he broke his thumb, and then having some of the best games of his career. While every bit of that is true, he was much younger back then and much more effective than he has been this season. He currently has 10 interceptions compared to 7 touchdown passes. Taking into account his statement today and the fact that his streak of 291 consecutive starts is on the line, I have the following bold prediction: Brett Favre will start Sunday, but will leave the game after a series or two, thus keeping his streak intact while not having to play a full game with his ankle injury.

With all of his shenanigans as of late, with retiring and un-retiring (twice) and the drama he puts into every decision he makes, a move like this should surprise nobody. I wouldn’t put it past him to pull a move such as this. I could be wrong, but we’ll find out Sunday and I’ll be proven right or wrong. My gut tells me that I’m right on this one.

Don’t forget to vote in the poll to the right of the page as to whether you want Favre to play Sunday or not!
