During the offseason, talks of trading for former Patriot and Tom Brady homey Deion Branch heated up until Pete Carroll made it clear that Branch would remain with the team. Branch has since gotten off to a slow start and Carroll is now reportedly listening to offers for the wide receiver. The Patriots, now one WR short after shipping out Randy Moss, have had discussions with the Seahawks. However, there have only been discussions and nothing is “imminent.” I don’t know how effective the oft-injured WR would be now in this stage of his career, but he likely won’t cost much to get and the Pats certainly have plenty of draft picks. The locker room would welcome the popular player back. That would also mean that Quinn Ojinnaka, who was brought back today to fill Moss’ roster spot, or another player would have to be released to make room for Branch. Not a big deal but it’s another aspect to look at. I certainly have no issues with this potential trade. The addition of Branch would bring more of that “Patriot Way” back into Foxborough. Stay tuned over the next few days, which is when this deal would likely be made.
