Spotlight on Danny Woodhead

With Kevin Faulk lost for the season, the spotlight has been on new Patriot RB/WR Danny Woodhead. Woodhead comes over from the Jets, where he was a popular player with the fans and has a similar skill set to Faulk. He will wear #39 and is not a big bruising back. He’s listed at 5’9″, 200 pounds, which probably means he’s about 5’7″ or 5’8″. He’s got good quickness and has a burst when he hits the hole. Last season with the Jets, he had 64 rushing yards on 15 attempts (4.3 YPC) and 8 catches for 87 yards. Because he’s a “slash” player, HB/WR, he’s also an effective pass catcher coming out of the backfield and can line up at WR. In fact, he wore #83 with the Jets. The Pats are playing their first game of the season without Kevin Faulk tomorrow, so it will be interesting to see how much we see of Woodhead. Below is a preseason highlights video of Woodhead when he was with the Jets.
