FanSided/CBS Live Mock Draft Results

Earlier today, the FanSided network teamed up with CBS to conduct a live mock draft of Rounds 1 and 2. I had the privilege of making the picks for the New England Patriots. Follow the jump below to see what picks I made on behalf of the Patriots. To see the complete results of the mock draft including the write-ups for each pick, click here for Round One and click here for Round Two.

  • Round One, 22nd overall: Sergio Kindle, DE/OLB Texas
  • Round Two, 44th overall: Golden Tate, WR Notre Dame
  • Round Two, 47th overall: Brandon Spikes, ILB Florida
  • Round Two, 53rd overall: Rob Gronkowski, TE Arizona

It was a fun experience but it wasn’t easy, especially with picks 44 and 47. I tried to combine what the Patriots’ needs are, coupled with who I would take and who the Patriots would actually take. I was pleasantly surprised to see Kindle fall to 22 and Gronkowski to 53. I thought for sure after I passed on the Arizona TE at 47th overall that I lost my chance at him and would be picking either Aaron Hernandez or a running back.

Feel free to comment on who I SHOULD have taken. Stay tuned later tonight as I put together my own mock draft of Round One. I promise you it will be a little, um, “unconventional.”

I like your picks a lot. I can’t believe Dan Williams fell to the 2nd round. I don’t like the Giants picks at all. I think Reese ould take Williams over JPP. But I think he would have taken Haden in this draft.

Thanks! The second round, like I said, was a little tough. Spikes might be considered a reach but I don’t think so based on his game film. The Pats value that much more than Combine numbers and have personally seen Spikes more than once.
