Division Rivals Making Waves

It’s nearly the end of the first hour of the new league year, and the first waves in free agency have been set in motion by the Patriots’ division rivals. It started when the Jets improved their secondary by trading a conditional 2011 draft pick to the Chargers for CB Antonio Cromartie. Pairing a player of Cromartie’s potential with Darrelle Revis is a lethal combination that will give the Pats fits this season. The Miami Dolphins are poised to hit on one of the bigger names in free agency: LB Karlos Dansby. Dansby will visit Miami Friday and all the indications are that he will not leave Miami without a multiyear deal in place. He will certainly improve Miami’s front seven and improve a defense that seems to have luck against the Patriot offense. So far, not so good for the Pats.

In other Patriot-related news, DE/OLB Julius Peppers is heading to Chicago for a visit Friday and he too is not expected to leave without a contract. Scratch another one off the list, though I did not think that the Pats had a realistic shot at Peppers.

No word yet on any Patriots signings.

I’ll be up a little longer but I do have work tomorrow morning. It looks like I’m going to have to change that medium regular to a large regular…

Cromarite could turn out to be a terrible signing by the Jets. After 2007 he’s been REALLY bad. He claims it was coaching so Rex might be able to turn him around but I think he was losing time to Antoine Cason in SD…

We will see. He has the athletic ability to be turn the corner. He will definitely see a lot of footballs thrown his way with Revis on the other side, so we will see.
