For those of you dying to get one more glimpse of Tom Brady before the NFL season comes to a close, you’re going to be disappointed. Brady has pulled out of the Pro Bowl due to injury. His injury details were not given, but it has been rumored that he has battled shoulder, rib, and finger injuries throughout the season. Score one for Charlie Casserly? Brady joins two other Patriots who have pulled out of the Pro Bowl due to injury (Wes Welker and his replacement, Randy Moss), leaving only three Patriots left to play in the NFL’s all-star game. Pro Bowl starters Logan Mankins and Vince Wilfork and Pro Bowl back-up Brandon Meriweather are all that remain on the AFC squad from the Pats. I don’t anticipate any of those three pulling out of the Pro Bowl, though if I had to pick one other possibility, it would be Wilfork. He battled an ankle injury late in the season that held him out of the last two regular season games and is entering free agency if the Pats don’t launch a preemptive strike. He may not want to risk aggravating that injury and lowering his value.
Brady’s replacement will be the Houston Texans‘ Matt Schaub. Good for him. He certainly deserved a Pro Bowl appearance as much, if not possibly more than, Brady.
