The New England Patriots, who are always looking to improve their club, might have just done that. As the Patriots just traded a conditional 7th round draft pick to the Baltimore Ravens. In exchange for the 2010 draft pick, the Pats received linebacker Prescott Burgess in return. This move looks good on paper. As New England only gave up a 7th round pick, and it appears Burgess can help the Patriots in two different areas.
The first area would be the special teams unit. While the other area that Burgess most likely can help out at is linebacker. Especially with the losses the Pats had at the linebacker position over the off-season. As they lost two key veterans in Tedy Bruschi and Mike Vrabel. Those two veteran losses combined with the Jerod Mayo knee injury has the Patriots lacking solid depth at the linebacker spot.
Here’s hoping that Burgess is suited up and available to play for the Pats, this weekend. As they get set to face the undefeated Atlanta Falcons, at Gillette stadium. After seeing their poor play in the second half of last week’s lose to the Jets. they could use all the help possible if they hope to beat the Falcons, and improve to 2-1 on the season.
