Funny thing happened a few moments ago, while I was checking up on a few football headlines. I’m reading a column by Jason Whitlock on NFL Truths: Peyton’s a choker, LT is done in S.D. and I’m loving it. He mentions that running back LaDainian Tomlinson will never start another game in a San Diego chargers uniform. After reading that line it hits me like a ton of bricks. The New England Patriots would gladly welcome him. Hey we could always use another RB, especially one that has the desire to win it all. We did it with Corey Dillon a few years back, why not LT!
It’s time for the Patriots to part ways with Laurence Maroney and all his injuries. LT can make the best of defenders look like pee-wee football players at a moments notice. His speed, elusiveness and dedication to the game is what we need here. Maroney’s been good when he’s on the field but over the last two years the injuries are keeping him sidelined and unproductive. True LT is a great back. Yes he’s getting up there some age, but he still has plenty of production left in him. Even Whitlock agrees that LT would be a wonderful addition to the Patriots.
So we just might turn on the television on day soon and see this headline crossing the screen. LT – The Newest Patriot! It sounds pretty good to me. Just imagine the fits we would give opposing defensive coordinators. Tom Brady under center, LT in the back field and Randy Moss and Wes Welker on the sides. Who do you try and stop? And there’s no way they could stop all four of these weapons. The NFL could just engrave the New England Patriots name on the Lombardi Trophy for years to come.
