The NFL is handing out it’s annual awards and a New England Patriots player has captured one of the early awards. The Patriots Jerod Mayo has been named the 2008 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year player. Mayo who is next in line to assume the captain’s role once a a few of the remaining veternas retire, received 49 of the 50 votes. Cincinnati’s Keith Rivers received the other remaining vote.
And in breaking news the NFL has just given the Colts quarterback Peyton Manning it’s league’s MVP award. Personally this doesn’t come as a shock to most people. But unlike others I totally disagree with Manning being named MVP. In my book the Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner should be the winner. The difference maker between the two teams is that the Colts struggled early in the season. As opposed to the Cardinals who struggled towards the end of it. This is the third time Manning has been recognized with this award.
From myself here at MusketFire.com and all of the fans of the New England Patriots we congratulate you Jerod Mayo on a fine season. We look forward to seeing you next year, and many more years in a Patriots uniform.
