Halftime Quickie!

We are at the half of the New England Patriots and Oakland Raiders game.  It’s a rainy afternoon in Oakland but that has not stopped the powerful and potent Patriots offense from scoring.  Matt Cassel has all ready thrown for 172 yards and 3 touchdowns.  With scores going to Kevin Faulk, Randy Moss and Wes Welker in the air.  And Sammy Morris added a 29 yard dash for the fourth offensive score of the half.  The Raiders have been over matched the entire game.  That’s not to say they haven’t had a few bright spots in the contest.  Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell connected with Johnnie Lee Higgins on a nice 59 yard strike to get Oakland on the board.  Their other score came on a 91 yard kickoff return by Justin Miller that made the score 28-14 in favor of New England.

For a moment or two it actually looked like Oakland had some momentum going in their favor.  But thanks to Ellis Hobbs and his 95 yard kickoff return they lost anything they had built.  It’s the first time in years I remember seeing back to back kickoff returns in a game.  the Patriots have had no problems on the offensive side of the ball.  The running game is in full swing thanks to Faulk, LaMont Jordan and Morris.  As they have accumulated a 160 yards in the first half.   This game is all but wrapped up for now.  Oakland’s done we can stick the fork in them now.  And after this win we’ll be right back to a three way tie for the AFC East along with the Jets and the Miami Dolphins.  Oh look at this on the Patriots first possession of the second half they score another touchdown.  With Cassel hooking up with Moss again this time for a 9 yard score.  Let me rephrase what I mentioned earlier, this one is done!
