Have a question for all you football fans. Who is the NFL’s luckiest team for week 14 of the season? Why it’s none other than the New England Patriots, with their 24-21 come from behind win over the Seattle Seahawks. The Patriots with this win now move back into a three way tie for first in the AFC East. Thanks in part to the San Francisco 49ers helping not only us but also the Miami Dolphins by beating the Jets.
The Patriots, in getting the victory played a very sloppy, very poor game on both sides of the ball. Which players can we thank for this win, they are Wes Welker and Stephen Gostkowski. Welker’s twelve catches for 134 yards, and the nice two point conversion reception were instrumental. As was Gostkowski who converted all three of his field goal opportunities. He connected from 27, 42 and 50 yards as his field goals kept the Patriots in the game early on.
Did the Pats deserve this game? My answer would be a very big NO! They played piss poor defense, they could not stop the Seattle running attack. Nor could they contain backup quarterback Seneca Wallace, who passes for 212 yards and three touchdowns. I’m not sure I’d say it was Wallace’s mistake, or the Patriots defense that made the difference. With under two minutes to play in the game and the Seahawks driving the Patriots sent an all out blitz. And the result was Brandon Meriweather sacking Wallace and forcing a fumble. The recovery being made by Richard Seymour, sealed the victory for New England. You make the call was it the Patriots defense that won the game, or was it the Seahawks lone mistake that cost them.
